After years of trying to force Massachusetts (and New Hampshire) residents to accept a dangerous and unnecessary new fossil fuel pipeline, Kinder Morgan announced today that they are suspending their work on the Northeast Energy Direct, or NED project.
As Kinder Morgan stated:
“Unfortunately, despite working for more than two years and expending substantial shareholder resources…continuing to develop the project is not an acceptable use of shareholder funds.”
This victory is due to the work of so, so many people, including countless 350 Mass volunteers who packed public hearings, called their legislators, submitted public comments, and took to the streets for rallies and marches. 350 Mass was lucky enough to work alongside our incredible allies in the Mass Power Forward coalition, and take leadership from brilliant and tireless local groups in affected communities all over the state who first and foremost made this possible. Our success validates the power of the grassroots, even in the face of what can seem to be insurmountable odds.
The tide is turning. Onward!
HUGE VICTORY AGAINST KINDER MORGAN PIPELINE
