Money enables the fossil fuel industry. It is the banks and insurance companies which fund and insure; asset managers and pension fund managers who invest; corporate lobbyists who pressure legislators to protect. The Stop and Steer the Money Working Group educates and engages members to disrupt the financial underpinnings of the fossil fuel industry. We partner with Stop the Money Pipeline MA for shareholder actions, social media promotions, bank boycotts, and other direct actions. Members also steer through removal and reinvestment of personal funds. Our goal is to convince investors, banks, and regulators to recognize fully that climate change is a systemic financial risk to the economy as a whole.
