Protecting Our Constitutional Order: A Pop-Up Event Inspired by Heather Cox Richardson

Lunch.Climate.Action. is a place for first time activists and long time campaigners alike to learn about the issues and take action during lunch time.

With the new administration, Trump is bringing in his loyalists without regard to their experience, qualifications, or loyalty to the Constitution, and he wants to force the Senate into allowing him to make recess appointments. But the Senate has the power and duty to advise and consent, and we the people have a right to hear the hard questions being asked!
So this month, inspired by Heather Cox Richardson’s November 19 Politics Chat and in the spirit of upholding the Constitutional order, we’re going to write to 6 non-Maga (or at least non-Maga-ish!) Republican Senators to encourage them to take their power and responsibility seriously and do the right thing – including Senate hearings and complete FBI background checks.
While this is not a direct climate action, we thought this community might want to explore how to integrate resistance to Trump’s authoritarian power grab into our ongoing climate work.
