Join 350 Mass and Allies on Wednesday, June 4 in Nurses Hall at the State House to sing, chant, and pack the hearing room in visible support of our bills!
Next Wednesday will be the first rapid response day of the legislative session. We and our allies were already planning simultaneous legislative briefings on 1) funding to address climate change and 2) the transition off gas and towards renewables. These briefings aim to educate legislators on our policy priorities.
Then, Last night we were thrown a curve ball: the Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy (TUE) committee has now also scheduled a hearing for 1 pm on that day on several of our priority and supported bills.
We'll have to divide and conquer... RSVP here to join us on Wednesday, June 4.
We now have 3 events all starting at 1 pm at the statehouse:
- Climate Funding Legislative Briefing
- Gas Transition Legislative Briefing
- TUE Hearing
Of those three, we need grassroots support for the TUE Hearing, which will include three of our priority bills:
-
Municipal voices, Municipal voices in gas utility work H.3446/S.2248 (Armini/Creem)
- Save Money with Clean Heat campaign priority!
-
Limiting Utility Lobbying, Prohibiting the use of ratepayer funds for utility lobbying, promotions or perks H.3400 (Owens/Armini)
- Mass Power Forward (MPF) priority, largest climate justice coalition in the state!
-
Ban Predatory 3rd Party Suppliers, An Act relative to electric ratepayer protections H3534/S.2255 (Moran/Crighton)
- MPF and 350 Mass supported
What we need from you:
- RSVP today!
- Join us in Nurses Hall at the State House starting at 12:30 PM! We’ll start with singing, followed by a procession to the hearing room to line the backs of the room and show our support. Our organizing director Evan Bell will be coordinating in-person action day-of.
- Wear your 350 Mass t-shirt! If you don't have one, let us know!
- Ask your legislator to join a briefing and send an aide to the other!
Note: The leaders of the three campaigns for the bills being heard today are not asking everyone to sign up to testify. Don't feel pressure to put testimony together if you're not ready! We need people to show up so legislators can see how powerful we are, even when our movement is running multiple campaigns. Not everyone needs to be giving testimony. If you would however like to testify, you are welcome to do so. Sign up to testify by 3 PM on Tuesday, June 3 at this link. If you would like to submit written testimony, please email it to Benjamin Minerva at [email protected] and Caleb Oakes at [email protected]. The deadline to submit written testimony is Wednesday, June 11, 2025 by 5:00 p.m. When submitting written testimony, please send it as an attachment and use the following document title format: Bill# - Your Name – Support/Oppose .
